What is “Room in Roof” insulation?

“Room in Roof” Insulation grants are now being offered as part of the government’s new Energy Companies Obligation scheme. The grants cover the entire cost of having all loft rooms insulated to current building regulations using the latest insulation materials.

What is an ECO boiler grant?

The Government has to reduce energy consumption across the UK by a set amount by 2020. Replacing inefficient boilers helps them reduce wasted energy and meet these targets, and by giving grants to families and pensioners in receipt of benefits, it also makes heating more affordable for those who need it most.

Where does the money come from?

ECO was launched in 2013 to help make energy saving measures, such as heating and insulation, affordable for householders. Every major Energy Company in the UK has been obligated to provide funding for installations that cut carbon emissions and consumer fuel bills.

What’s covered?

The boiler grant is for replacing the boiler unit only. If your central heating needs updating or extra work is needed you will need to pay for this separately. We will complete a survey of your property first and advise you of possible extra costs before going ahead with any work so you can rest assured there will be no unexpected bills at the end. You are under no obligation at any stage to go ahead unless you’re completely happy.

Will a boiler grant affect my winter fuel payment?

No, if you qualify for a replacement boiler grant this will have no effect on your winter fuel payment. The winter fuel payment is a tax-free sum of between £100 and £300 to help cover your heating bills. Anyone receiving a state pension who was born on or before 5 July 1952 is entitled to this payment. If you do qualify for a boiler grant then your new boiler will be more efficient and use less energy, so your winter fuel payment will go that much further!
